Jesus is Risen Easter Flower
By Diane Smit

An Easter flower is a special way to remember what Jesus did for us. Make this project to remind you that “Jesus is Risen”.

You Will Need:

Colored construction paper (i.e., yellow, green, black, pink)

Clean juice can (or similar empty can)

Popcicle stick for stem

Scissors

Glue

Magic marker

Stickers

Crayons

How to Make:

1.      Measure the height of juice can with a ruler. From construction paper, cut a piece of paper to fit around juice can. (approximately 5”)

2.     Draw and cut out a cross from black construction paper (approximately 5” X 2 ½) and glue onto paper. Decorate with stickers or draw your own pictures around cross. Glue paper onto can.

3.     Cut a strip of green construction paper to look like grass. Make it fit around can about 1 ½ ” in height. Glue grass inside juice can.

4.     Use the flower and leaf template (below)  as a guide to make your flower. Cut out a yellow circle from construction and glue in center of flower. Write the words ‘He is Risen’ in the yellow center.

5.      Crumple some paper and place inside can. This will anchor the stem of the flower.

6.     Glue or tape the back of flower onto stick. Fold the petals into the center. They will naturally unfold.

7.     To make leaves curl, wrap leaves around pencil and release. Place the leaves inside can. Place the flower inside can.

8.     Enjoy your Easter flower.
